Kathryn Damm was raised in San Diego, California, where she stayed to receive her BA in human development and a BS in psychology at the University of California, San Diego. She continued on at the University of California, San Diego for her Ph.D. in experimental psychology. She has taught (under Kathryn Herbst & Herbst-Damm for you "ratemyprofessor.com" users) at several schools on the coast with a range of classes including introduction to psychology, statistics, social psychology, cross-cultural psychology, and health psychology. She particularly enjoys teaching introductory psychology and statistics. Her enthusiasm for psychology is contagious and she loves to inspire her students' own love of learning. Kathy has spent the last several years working with terminally ill patients to explore the relationship between social support and emotional wellbeing and health. Her focus has been on the application of social psychological theory to promoting increased quality of life for those who are actively dying and for their caregivers.
